Casa di Langa, a new sustainable luxury hotel, will open Spring 2021 in the heart of northern Italy’s Piedmont region. Milan-based design firms  GaS Studio and Parisotto + Formenton Architetti (P+F) are the architecture and interior design creatives behind the contemporary property and have worked together synergistically throughout the entire process.  Overlooking 40+ hectares of working vineyards and rolling hills, the 39-room boutique property combines traditional Piedmontese design with sustainable practices thoughtfully threaded throughout the guest experience.

Casa di Langa is dedicated to providing luxury through sustainability, caring for both their guests and the environment. This commitment can be seen in every aspect of the design, construction and operation of the resort. Traditional regional architecture and Piedmont’s breathtaking views which surround the property inspired the Casa di Langa design brief. With GaS Studio and P+F executing the architectural and interior design in a collaborative effort, they have created a property with refined Italian simplicity where the soft, muted colors of Casa di Langa’s natural environment are reflected in the property’s rich textiles and locally sourced materials. The design duos’ extensive experience in luxury residential, designer retail and high level hospitality projects, include luxury residences at Piazza del Carmine in Milan, the five-star Holistic Spa at Terme di Saturnia Natural Spa & Golf Resort in Tuscany, La Viarte winery in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, interior design work by P+F with Sanlorenzo yachts and several Nespresso flagships worldwide to name a few.

“The team we created, enriched by our different backgrounds and specializations — despite the various breakdown of tasks between interiors and architecture – has been our winning formula. Our combined efforts and partnership is what has made Casa di Langa a huge success,” shares Aldo Parisotto, Partner at  Parisotto + Formenton Architetti (P+F).

The firms have drawn inspiration from the surrounding hazelnut orchard, vegetable garden and the views of the vineyards to integrate these natural elements in their design. Local Pietra di Luserna stone was sourced from Piedmont together with 100% recyclable terra cotta and raw, earth based plasters from Lombardy-based Matteo Brioni. Elegant and refined furnishings were thoughtfully selected from Made in Italy brands including B&B Italia, Cassina, DePadova and Meridiani, while bedrooms feature dreamy mattresses by Midsummer Milano, handmade in Italy using natural and sustainable materials including cotton, wool, and silk. Each accommodation features a spacious private terrace, relaxation area and a spa-like bathroom with invigorating rain showers and refreshing Le Labo toiletries. Installed throughout the property and grounds, the Collection at Casa di Langa is an engaging selection of world-class fine art highlighting notable Italian and American artists, while Italian brand Emu was chosen for the property’s exterior decor.

“In all of our work we seek to manage meaningful designs that are responsive to clients’ needs, create memorable spaces that contribute to their communities and landscapes, and touch the land and the environment as gently and as positively as possible. Casa di Langa is evidence of these efforts and shows the excellence in design and sustainability that is at the heart of our practice and this project,” shares Andre Straja, Partner at Goring & Straja Architects.

Using a sustainable approach to architecture and design, the team has carefully incorporated many important environmentally conscious elements into the project. Ingrained in every aspect of Casa di Langa is a deep respect for the natural world and its sustainable future from a commitment to carbon neutrality to the use of 100% recycled water for irrigation, geothermal heating throughout, zero single-use plastic, PV cells and solar panels, FSC certified wood and high performance windows.
