Boutique Hotel Owner: Nicole Baylac

Owner of Luana Nai’a LLC

Nicole Baylac was born in France, where she earned a BA in Social Psychology and began her career working for a marketing research firm. She later moved to Berkeley, California, where she immersed herself in the counterculture movement, became involved in feminism, and explored the fields of therapy and personal development.

Seeking a deeper understanding of spirituality and holistic well-being, Baylac pursued spiritual studies in India and the United States before becoming a naturopathic doctor. Her work became dedicated to helping people reverse chronic illness through nutrition, physical activity, and mindfulness, reflecting her belief in the powerful connection between the body, mind, and deeper self.

Her passion for holistic living eventually inspired her to explore the idea of creating a place that would embody her values of ecology, nature, meditation, and connection with the deeper self. For Baylac, hospitality offered an opportunity to transform these principles into a physical experience where guests could reconnect with themselves and their surroundings.

Baylac sees the boutique hotel movement as a natural expression of these values. Through beauty, creativity, and harmony, boutique hotels can create experiences that extend beyond traditional hospitality and incorporate elements of wellness, ecology, and luxury. Her vision is to create a space that speaks to the conscious traveler, offering an environment designed to inspire mindfulness, connection, and a higher quality of life.
