Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the globally renowned chef behind 60 restaurants across 13 countries, is making waves in Miami with his latest venture: the Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences in the Design District. Described as a 329-unit branded condominium with a culinary focus, Vongerichten shared his excitement, saying, “A move into the hotel-residence world has been something my team and I have been planning for the past five to 10 years.”
Collaborating with Yabu Pushelberg on the design, Vongerichten emphasized his involvement in crafting “the best and most efficient appliances and design” for both the kitchens and communal spaces. Beyond offering fine dining and bar experiences, the residences promise to immerse guests in the vibrant culinary landscape of Miami, which Vongerichten admires for its “vibrant and multicultural” food scene.
Capella Hotel Group is poised for a transformative 2025, with openings across Taipei, Macau, Kyoto, and Osaka, reflecting its ambitious goal to double its portfolio by 2030. Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group, highlighted the vision: “With these openings, we’re expanding from eight properties to 12 by the end of 2025, with plans to double our portfolio by 2030.”
The properties showcase cutting-edge design and cultural integration. Capella Taipei’s “modern mansion” concept by Andre Fu Studio combines urban luxury with natural vistas of Taipei 101 and the mountains. Meanwhile, Capella at Galaxy Macau will blend art-filled interiors with Sky Villas, paying homage to the city’s Portuguese-Chinese architectural heritage.
In Kyoto, Kengo Kuma & Associates and Brewin Design Office are designing an 89-key retreat that preserves Zen traditions, while Patina Osaka’s 221-key property takes inspiration from Japan’s “City of Water.” Signature restaurant P72 will highlight Japan’s 72 micro-seasons, creating a culinary narrative that evolves with the environment.
