Shane Davis

Co-Founder And Creative Director, Public Records / Public Service

Shane Davis is the co-founder and creative director of Public Records / Public Service.

Founded in 2017 as an inter-dimensional, ever-evolving cultural platform, the organization engages in diverse sonic + cultural programming, plant-based food + beverage, alongside experimental design and ecological explorations. The campus itself — located in the historic ASPCA headquarters in Gowanus, Brooklyn — now spans five spaces: a restaurant and music lounge [The Atrium], a sonically-immersive live and club venue [Sound Room], a vegan cafe [Cafe Public], an intimate listening lounge and cocktail bar [UPSTAIRS], and an open-air plant nursery x event space [The Nursery].

PUBLIC RECORDS aims to create space that catalyzes disconnection from the material world and reconnection to nature, ourselves, and each other. We believe pleasure, responsibility, and action can and should coexist. We see sound as a universal language that opens new ways of seeing and being.

Public Records is continuously championing diverse art forms and practices, while exploring new intersections between sound, design, hospitality, ecology, and community.
