Katy Black

Katy Black, MAI, is a Denver-based Managing Director within the HVS Consulting & Valuation division. She also leads the firm's Complex Assets & Consulting group, which includes colleagues throughout the Americas. Her work covers valuation, market and feasibility studies, and advisory services on lodging assets that fall outside standard models: complex resorts, condo-hotels, branded residences, resort-residential developments, and ultra-luxury properties, along with less conventional asset types such as glamping resorts, thermal spas, waterpark destinations, gaming properties, and extended-stay hotels. With more than 20 years in the industry, her analysis has supported lenders, investors, developers, and operators on some of the most unconventional lodging assets in the market. Katy is a state-certified general appraiser and a Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI). She holds an honors BS in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from the University of Delaware and an MS in Accounting from the University of Akron.
