As the boutique hospitality industry continues to evolve, staying informed is critical for executives navigating new opportunities. At BLLA, we bring you the latest stories each week in our BOUTIQUE WEEKLY newsletter, designed specifically for boutique hotel executives seeking a competitive edge.
Here’s a glimpse of what we’re covering in this week’s edition:
“When the stunning luxury boutique hotel Tribe Caribe opened its doors last year… it instantly became a classic,” writes Jim Dobson for Forbes. Located in Havana’s historic Cayo Hueso district, Tribe Caribe is the brainchild of Grammy-winning producer Andrés Levin and fashion entrepreneur Chris Cornell. Their vision was to bring “the former glory of Cuba” back to life by transforming a 1930s building into a boutique haven.
The restoration involved local artisans, from reviving Art Deco furniture to preserving the building’s original structure. Levin describes the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, Manteca, as “a culinary destination for all tastes” that celebrates fresh, locally sourced ingredients. “Your stay at Tribe Caribe means supporting a network of families, artisans, and collaborators who make your experience uniquely authentic,” adds Cornell.
The former Hôtel Saint-James & Albany, located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, is undergoing a transformation led by Mohari Hospitality, Omnam Investment Group, and Pharrell Williams. Situated near iconic landmarks like the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens, this project aims to redefine luxury hospitality in the heart of Paris.
“This project exemplifies our dedication to identifying and creating unique luxury hospitality projects,” says J. Allen Smith, CEO of Mohari Hospitality. The redevelopment will preserve the building’s romantic heritage while pushing boundaries with sustainable technology and cutting-edge design. “We intend to honor the property’s extraordinary history while creating a modern flagship for our portfolio,” adds Omnam CEO David Zisser.
Wallpaper Magazine highlights the new spa at Inness, a rural luxury retreat in Accord, New York. Designed by Taavo Somer, the spa integrates minimalist architecture with Manhattan-level wellness experiences.
“It forces guests into nature,” says Somer, referring to the spa’s location amidst apple orchards and sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains. With features like a geothermal-heated indoor pool, tadelakt plunge pool, and massage rooms with simulated skylights, the spa blends rustic charm with modern luxury. “People should come and hang out,” Somer emphasizes, inviting guests to experience relaxation in harmony with nature.
